Fibre Fix Café lookback: Emma-Louise Boynton’s workshop on reconnecting with your body
At our two-day fibre-focused wellness immersion, we were joined by relationship and intimacy coach Emma-Louise Boynton, who hosted a beautifully honest and transformative session. She shared powerful, practical tools to help women stop treating their bodies as constant "fixer-upper" projects and start reconnecting with true wellbeing, joy, and pleasure.
Ban the word “should”
So many of us live under the weight of societal expectations, constantly striving for an unattainable standard of self-optimisation. Emma-Louise challenged guests to banish the word "should" from their vocabularies. When we treat our bodies like machines that need constant tuning, we disconnect from our intuition and how we actually feel. Remember: productivity is not the only metric of a successful life.
Make peace with your body
"As long as you are at war with your body, you’ll struggle to experience pleasure."
Emma-Louise also spoke candidly about how many of us spend years punishing, restricting, and hating our bodies, yet we still expect to easily tap into joy and intimacy. She shared how reconnecting with her own body through sex therapy made self care finally feel accessible, proving that our relationship with intimacy and our relationship with our physical selves are one and the same.
Reclaim everyday pleasure
Intimacy and erotic essence aren’t just about sex, nor are they reserved only for those in relationships. It’s a lifelong connection to yourself that you can nurture daily. To start stepping out of your head and back into your body, Emma-Louise recommends a simple, beautiful practice - keeping a pleasure journal.
Write down three to five non-sexual things that bring you genuine pleasure every day. It could be the warmth of your first sip of morning coffee, the texture of your favourite knitwear, or the laughter shared over dinner with a friend. It really is about starting small.
The ultimate takeaway
You only get one body, it’s your one true home, so it's time to stop treating it like a wellness project and start caring for it like you would your closest friend.
