Food-Grown® Vitamin D scientific study
Discover the superior absorption of Food-Grown® Vitamin D—113% better absorbed and 106% better retained than leading high street tablets. Backed by clinical research, this natural supplement supports optimal immune health and bone strength.
All year round, our bodies need Vitamin D to fire on all cylinders, but modern lifestyles and diets can make it difficult to get enough, especially in winter months when sunlight is significantly reduced or in climates like Europe where levels are low. However, it plays a key role in a range of essential functions such as bone and musculoskeletal health and immunity.
Despite its critical role, an estimated one billion of us worldwide have low levels of Vitamin D, meaning quality supplementation is more vital than ever before. However, a major issue with many Vitamin D supplements is that they are typically poorly absorbed in the digestive tract.
In cooperation with the University of Queensland, we conducted a 72-hour human comparator study to determine the absorption of Food-Grown® Vitamin D versus standard available high street tablets and spray supplements.
How did we achieve this?
Well-controlled and ethically conducted, the human study was a randomised, parallel clinical trial that adhered to the highest standards.
- 36 healthy adults (aged 20 to 59) were recruited
- Participants were randomly assigned to either the Food-Grown® Vitamin D3 capsule, a conventional Vitamin D3 tablet or a conventional Vitamin D3 buccal (oral) spray.
- Blood samples were collected at multiple points over the 72 hours to measure plasma Vitamin D levels.
What benefits did we look for?
Measuring the absorption of Food-Grown® Vitamin D3 against the conventional tablet and buccal spray formulations, we set out to determine which would lead to higher plasma Vitamin D levels over 72 hours and therefore, which offers the most effective supplementary support.
What did we find?
The Food-Grown® Vitamin D3 capsule demonstrated significantly higher total Vitamin D absorption over 72 hours, compared to its conventional counterparts:
- 113% better absorbed & 106% better retained than the tablet
- And almost 50% better absorbed and better retained than the buccal spray.
Concluding that Food Grown® Vitamin D provides a more biologically active and bioavailable form of Vitamin D3 than other forms of Vitamin D3 and therefore offering optimal support for the immune system, bones and teeth.
